Educational Spaces Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

The new educational spaces at the Stedelijk Museum are used by various groups – from toddlers and older children to adults. This requires a space and design that can be flexibly arranged.

The design consists of a large cabinet that functions as a canvas containing various objects in different colors. The shapes, made from recycled foam, can be used and appropriated in a playful manner. The blocks can serve as building blocks, playground equipment, tables, seating areas, or platforms.

The abstract forms also offer many social possibilities. The objects invite children to engage in creative play, collaboration, and physical work with head, heart, and hands. In this way, the objects support the workshops given by the Stedelijk Museum.
